About Limen
Limen makes accessibility checks for small online shops. Our website is limen.ae. We find the WCAG failures in a shop's pages, show the code that fixes them, and keep a dated record of what was checked.
One company, several spellings. You may have found us as Limen, limen.ae, Limen AE or limenae. They are all us.
The name
Limen is Latin for threshold, the step you cross to enter a building. It is what our arch logo shows, and it is the job we do: making sure nobody is stopped at the door of a shop because of how its website was built.
On WordPress.org our account is limenae, because the plain name limen was already taken. Our plugin there is Limen Accessibility Audit. Limen.ae and limen ae are the website's address, written two ways.
What we make
- The free check. Enter a page address and get its confirmed WCAG 2.1 failures, with no account.
- The Chrome extension. Checks the page you are looking at, including pages behind a login.
- The WordPress plugin. Checks your pages from inside wp-admin.
- The Fix Pack ($99, one-off). Every occurrence of every failure with its line and markup, and fix code for Shopify, WooCommerce, Shopware, WordPress or plain HTML.
- Free tools. An accessibility statement generator in English and a Barrierefreiheitserklärung generator in German.
- Research and guides. For example how 49 Shopify themes did and what the European Accessibility Act means for online shops.
How we work
- We never call a page "compliant". Automated checks find roughly a third of accessibility barriers. Our reports list confirmed failures separately from the checks that need a person, and never count the second kind as passed.
- We fix code; we do not sell an overlay. Limen changes nothing on your site. A widget layered over a page leaves the barriers in the code underneath, and we say so in our accessiBe alternative guide.
- We name the other tools. WAVE and Lighthouse are free and good; our WAVE comparison says when to use them instead of us.
